Import Types in BIMDeX Revit Importer

  1. Import Type:

This feature is used to assign the hierarchy of the converted Revit model. There are totally 4 different import option, each which creates respective hierarchy upon export.

The types are;

  • Flat Part
  • Flat Assembly
  • Complete Assembly
  • Flat Sub-Assembly

The above image shows the different Imort types of the BIMDeX tool while the Revit import process.

The Flat part import type will be neglected in the Revit Project Import retaining all the other three import options.

  • Flat Assembly:

All the parts and sub-assemblies in the main assembly will be created as separate families under the main family.

  • Flat Sub-Assembly:

All the parts and assemblies would be maintained at the first level and this is how the hierarchy creation will be inside the folders or the save path.

  • Complete Assembly:

All the parts and assemblies are maintained the same inside Revit. ‘ie’ the SolidWorks hierarchy is maintained as it is in Revit.

  • Flat Part:

All the parts and assemblies will be flattened and compressed into a single Revit file. This import option usually is a advantageous option for several designers or architects.
